The Treasurer’s Report

As at July 31, 2007 the NAC had a balance of approximately $20,063.12 in the bank.

Member Profile – Milli Murray

Milli Murray is the positive, upbeat Secretary of the IFMA – NAC.  She is a lady who strives for success in everything she does.  Her personal motto is “Life’s journey, what a ride!”  This is Milli’s second term as Secretary with the IFMA - NAC.

Milli has had a lengthy career with the Alberta Government and was transferred in January 2007 from Service Alberta to Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation where she is currently employed as Director of Facility Services, Property Development.  She looks forward, with anticipation, to what her new role will be as the organizational structure unfolds.

Milli is a firm believer in life-long learning, is an avid reader of both fact and fiction, and can usually be found with a pen and notebook in her hands.  Pen and paper are her favorite toys but she also admitted that crayons will do too!  She enjoys spending her free time with her daughters, her granddaughters, and her many friends.  She also enjoys travel, spectator sports, concerts, live theatre, old movie classics, volunteering with many organizations, journaling and gardening.

Milli became an IFMA Member, not only because it was job related, but because she knew she would meet new people to network with and learn from, and IFMA would provide further educational opportunities.  You now know a bit more about our IFMA – NAC Chapter Secretary.

Member Profile – Doug Berry, CFM

Doug Berry is a retired Worker’s Compensation Board (WCB) employee.  While at the WCB he was in charge of operations, maintenance, and planning.  Over the years his many accomplishments include installing aircraft navigation systems throughout northern Canada as well as working on many large construction projects in Alberta.  He enjoys the comforts of family, volunteering, playing sports, reading, and being around people.  When asked what he was most proud of in life he said he was proud of having two successful children with his wife!

He jointed IFMA because he wanted to be part of an international group of lifelong learners committed to improving the business of facility management.

It is a pleasure to have Doug’s experience and expertise on this year’s board.

Editor’s Note

Hello!  I am the new Editor/Communications Chair for the NAC.  Because this is my first term, I would like to tell you a little about myself.  I live in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, a little town located on the Alberta/Northwest Territories border.  For the past 12 years I have worked for the Government of the Northwest Territories.  For the last 7 years as Regional Property Management Officer.  When I am not working I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading a good novel, and sports activities when I get the chance.

I would be more than happy to hear from you regarding any suggestions you may have for the newsletter.  You can contact me by e-mail at glenn_bourke@northwestel.net.

As a closing note, I would like to mention that the IFMA – NAC needs your participation in keeping our chapter alive.  The new board will endeavor to deliver programs and items in a different way this year to accommodate the busy lives of it’s members.  Without you, we will dwindle in size and eventually disappear so please participate!!

If you have any ideas for improving our Chapter, please email them to the IFMA – NAC Office Administrator at vici@telusplanet.net.
